We offer a range of high quality recycled plastic sheets and boards suitable for a wide range of applications and great trade prices. Illustrations to the left demonstrate uses of recycled plastic sheet material used in outdoor applications as the material cannot rot and little or no maintenance is required which is now why our recycled sheets and boards are the only alternative to plywood panels. The sheet size is nominal as there can be variations within recycled products, with variations in colour between batch productions.
SJH MACHINERY ARE A COLLECTION POINT FOR BIRCH FARM PLASTICS
SLPW Ltd is the sister company of Birch Farm Plastic Collection Ltd- a family business that has been involved with collecting agricultural polythene from farms, waste transfer sites and landfill sites for over 24 years.
We manufacture our furniture using Plaswood material, which is the long established market leader in recycled plastic wood. It has been manufactured since 1995 and is the only product on the market made from waste agricultural plastics, mainly used silage stretch wrap and crop cover. Silage stretch wrap in particular is an excellent feedstock for our Plaswood material, as it is an octane linear plastic, meaning a technically superior and strong material.
|BENEFITS OF OUR MATERIAL|
|Maintenance free||Will not rot|
|Resistant to vandalism||No splinters|
|Immune to insects||Strong and durable|
|Salt water resistant||Resists marine growth|
|No treatment or painting required||Can be left outside all year|
Used agricultural films are heavily contaminated with soil, animal waste, grass and other non-polythene materials. On average, for every 1000 kilos of waste/scrap arriving at the recycling factory, only 450 kilos is polythene, all 550 kilos contamination must be removed prior to recycling and re-manufacturing.
In the UK the only other legal option, for farmers, to dispose of their agricultural waste is sending it to landfill. The recovered waste films are washed, cleaned, and (eventually) recycled into LLDPE/LDPE pellets. These pellets, made from the recycling process, are used to manufacture the recycled plastic lumber sections we use in the manufacture of our furniture and product ranges.
The manufacturing processes used to produce Plaswood ensures massive reductions in (prime) raw material usage, energy consumption and carbon emissions, plus the waste material recovered and recycled would otherwise be landfill. For every tonne of recycled polythene there is a saving of 1.8 tonnes of crude oil, emissions of sulphur dioxide are reduced by 33%, nitrous oxide by 60%, and water usage reduces by 90% and is therefore the environmentally responsible alternative. The quality of the raw materials used to manufacture Plaswood is reflected in the strength and durability of our end products.
